Can You Play WoW in a Browser?
Yes for a browser project or a cloud stream. No for Blizzard's own client. World of Warcraft is listed as a Windows and macOS game through Battle.net. WoW: Forever, scheduled for 2026-11-04, uses that same app. Keldurn, Last Havens, Arena of Champions, WebWoW, and Azeroth Survivors are the projects that actually open in a tab, and they are not the retail game.
| Official game in a tab | No native build |
|---|---|
| Cloud stream | Yes, GeForce NOW documents a browser |
| Separate realms | Yes, see the project table |

The no
The product page, the shop, and the system-requirements article list a desktop install. I did not find a sentence where Blizzard says the words no browser version, so I do not invent that quote. The evidence is the absence of a web client next to the Windows and macOS requirements, plus the Forever starter guide still sending players to the Battle.net app.
The 2013 in-game browser from patch 5.3 opened a support site inside the client. It was not a way to play the game from Chrome. That history belongs on the technical page.
The yes
GeForce NOW's own how-to says you can play supported games in a browser. World of Warcraft is one of the games NVIDIA has streamed, including to Chromebooks, and you still need the subscription. That is the official game, drawn on someone else's PC.
If a download is what you want to avoid, the browser realms are the other yes. They have their own accounts, their own rules, and their own risk. Read the safety page before you create a login. The step-by-step sits on the how-to-play page.
Questions people ask
| What is wow browser? | A mixed search. It can mean a browser realm, a cloud stream, an old Android app, or a German TV service. This site separates them. |
|---|---|
| Can you play WoW in a browser for free? | The Free Trial is free and is not a browser game. Several browser projects say they are free. Retail content past the trial needs a subscription. |
| Does Forever change the answer? | No. Forever is a desktop branch included with a subscription. |
| Can I look up my character in a browser? | Yes. That is the Armory, and it is a different question from playing. |
